Resilient Food Initiative

Working to improve the resiliency of agriculture

Deanna Mantooth

Graduate Student

Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering
University of Arkansas

Deanna Mantooth graduated with a B.S. in Geology from the University of Arkansas in 2017, and is pursuing a M.S. in Biological and Agricultural Engineering at the University of Arkansas. Her master’s advisor is Dr. Marty Matlock. Deanna received her Geologist in Training license in the state of Arkansas approximately one year after receiving her bachelor’s. Her research focuses on flood risk analysis for the state of Arkansas. Specifically, she is analyzing the effect that climate change is having on low-intensity rainfall events in the largest urban areas in the state of Arkansas, and is determining if the current hydrologic infrastructure meets a threshold of resilience for the change in rainfall volume. The research aspiration is that she will formulate a framework with which to analyze urban flood risk and resilience.
